Old Photo Retouching

For this exercise I tried to retouch an image to look clean and clear. I did not have a tutorial to follow. I simply trusted my gut and used the skills that I acquired that week to create a retouched version of the old photo. I mostly used the Spot Healing Tool to erase the little specs and scratches from the image. For the areas that needed a bit more work, like the bench and wires on the left side of the image, I used the Stamp Tool to recreate the missing parts of the objects. To bring out the faded objects I would use the Healing Tool again and sometimes the Brush Tool with lowered opacity, although I did not find at as efficient and precise as the Healing Tool. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed doing this exercise. I enjoyed the freedom of not following a tutorial and simply trusting my own competence as a graphic designer. The one thing that I tried to avoid was to overdo it - focus too much on the individual details instead of the full picture, and making some objects too dark and unnaturally detailed.
